evolving into a new body. Killing an animal or other living thing only prevents the soul from remaining as long as it should in a given body. We must therefore avoid destroying the body for the sole pleasure of the senses, as do those who eat meat, which would make us incur sin.
According to the law of karma, those who allow one to kill a animal, those who perform the murderous act, those who sell the flesh of the slaughtered animal, those who prepare it, those who buy such food and those who eat it, all are responsible for the suffering inflicted on the animals. They will all have to suffer for this in their future life.
Let's embrace spiritual vegetarianism.
Spiritual vegetarianism consists of eating plant foods after having first offered them to the Lord. If we adopt this mode of sacrifice which consists in purifying our food by offering it to God before eating it, the Supreme Lord will protect us from all karma resulting from the destruction of plants. Otherwise, according to the law of karma, we will be personally held responsible for such an act, and will have to suffer the consequences.
Righteous beings, servants of God, who naturally follow the directives of the Supreme Lord are freed from all faults, because they eat only food offered as a sacrifice to God.
But those who prepare food (meat, fish, egg) for their sole pleasure of the senses, in truth, feed only on sin.
Human beings are provided with cereals, fruits, vegetables and milk, by the grace of the Supreme Eternal. To thus nourish ourselves with sanctified food, protects us from karma, promotes our spiritual progress, and allows us to live in holiness. We can sanctify our meal by offering it as a sacrifice to God, in these terms:
“Allow me Lord to present to you my respectful homage. Allow me Lord to offer you this meal, this humble offering. Haré Krishna, haré Krishna, Krishna krishna, haré haré / Haré Rama, haré Rama, Rama Rama, haré haré”.
This song in Sanskrit means: “Ô Lord, Ô source of all happiness, please make me your beloved servant”.
We do not drink or eat anything without first offering it to Krishna, God, the Supreme Person. Let us also offer Him all our acts, our day, our existence, in short all that we do and have, so that we will live constantly in purity.
Let us obey God, do his only will, and apply his laws and his commandments. But if we want to live in holiness, let us apply to the letter the regulatory principles of the Supreme Lord, the content of which is as follows:
