Whoever hears, sings and takes these matters of Me to heart becomes faithfully dedicated to Me and thus performs My devotional service. What remains to be accomplished for the perfect devotee, who serves Me with love and devotion, I the Absolute Supreme Truth, whose qualities are innumerable and who embodies all ecstatic experience?
Just as cold, fear and darkness are eradicated for those who have approached the sacrificial fire, so gloom, fear and ignorance are destroyed for those who are engaged in the service of the Lord’s devotees. The devotees of the Lord, peacefully fixed in absolute knowledge, are the refuge of the ultimate life for those who rise and fall repeatedly into the frightening ocean of material life. These devotees are like a solid boat that comes to help people who are about to drown.
Just as food is the life of all creatures, just as I am the ultimate refuge for those in distress, and just as religion is the wealth of those who die in this world, Thus My devotees are the only refuge of people fearing to fall into a miserable condition of life. My faithful devotees bestow the divine eyes while the sun only allows the outward sight, and this only when it rises in heaven. My devotees are our true adorable deities and our true family. They are themselves, and ultimately they are no different from Me.
The evil acts of the materialist, and the resulting consequences.
In truth, foolish materialists remain unable to understand that they are simply wasting their time obsessing over the production of material goods, since these are all destined to annihilation under the influence of time. This waste of energy comes from the ignorance of the mass of human beings, who are unaware of being eternal and of having an eternal occupation. They do not know that the duration of their existence in a given material body represents only a flash in their eternal journey. Unaware of this fact, they consider this brief glimmer of existence as the only reality, and waste their time improving their economic situation.
Krishna, God, the Supreme Person says:
Just like a mass of clouds, which does not know the force of the wind, the being absorbed in a material consciousness is unaware of the formidable power of time which carries it away. Whatever the materialist produces at the cost of many torments and efforts for a so-called happiness, the Supreme Lord, in the form of time, destroys it; and that is why the conditioned soul grieves.
The misguided materialist does not know that his body is temporary, and that the attraction to home, land and wealth, linked to the body, is also ephemeral. Ignorance alone makes him believe that everything is lasting. Whatever the species in which it is born, the distinct being (distinct from God) finds there a particular form of satisfaction, so much so that it is never dissatisfied with its condition.
The conditioned being is happy with his lot whatever the species to which he belongs. Bewildered by the influence of the illusory energy that covers his vision, he is not inclined to abandon his body, even if he lives in hell, for he delights in the basest pleasures.
