In the present age, simple trifles are enough to cause serious conflict. This is why the original holy scriptures recommend a method of spiritual realization common to all, the chanting of the holy names of the Lord.

People, each according to their own language, can come together and glorify the Lord with melodious songs. This practice should be done without offense, and those who participate in it will be assured of gradually attaining spiritual perfection without having to follow a more exacting method.

Here are the ten offenses against the Holy Names not to be committed.

To blaspheme a devotee of the Lord.

Putting the Lord and celestial beings on the same level, or believing in the existence of many gods.

Disregard the orders of the spiritual master.

Minimize the authority of the Vedas, the original scriptures.

Interpret the Holy Name of the Lord.

Knowingly doing wrongdoing, relying on the chanting of the Holy Name to undo the consequences.

Speak to unbelievers of the glories of the Name of the Lord.

Compare the chanting of the Holy Name to material piety.

Being inattentive while chanting the Holy Names.

Stay attached to the material despite the chanting of the Holy Name, and having heard so many instructions.

At such meetings, scholars and illiterates, rich and poor, Hindus, Christians and Muslims, Europeans, Americans, Africans, Asians, homeless or destitute and spiritual guides or priests, all will be able to listen to the spiritual vibrations of the song of the Holy Names, and thus remove from the heart all the dirt that contact with matter has deposited there.

Responding to the Lord’s mission, all men will then accept his Holy Name as the common place of universal religion. We will then be delivered from the dangers of this black age. By singing or reciting the hymn Haré Krishna, we will be delivered from all the difficulties of this material world.

This is the essence of truth.
