Krishna, God, the Supreme Person, the Supreme Master, is perfectly independent, and in the spiritual world the servant also enjoys this quality of perfect independence, because there is no forced service.

Absolute service arises only from spontaneous love, sublime feelings and affection that we offer with enormous joy, desiring that we are to make Lord Krishna happy and to please Him. A pale reflection of such a quality of service is found in that which a mother offers to her child, which a friend renders to his friend, or marries it to his husband. Indeed, these three forms of service are not imposed, but elicited by love alone.

But let us understand that in this material world, even the service offered with love does not have the same scope. This service is only a denatured reflection of that found in the spiritual world, in contact with Lord Krishna, which is the real service, the service linked to the love that each being offers to Krishna, and exchanges with him. Now, this same service, imbued with spiritual love, can be accomplished here below, with devotion.

Serving God with love and devotion allows us to be aware of being a spiritual soul, also called a spiritual entity, and not the body of dense matter in which we reside when we live in this world.

Attributes of the pure devotee of Krishna, God, the Supreme Person.

A Krishna-conscious person, God, the Supreme Person, who devotes herself entirely to the sublime service of love that she offers to the Lord, acquires the divine virtues that celestial beings possess.

Always benevolent towards all, the devotee does not seek quarrel with anyone. His interest is in the essence of life, which is spiritual in nature. Equally disposed towards all, no one can find fault with him. His magnanimous spirit is always pure and devoid of any material obsession.

A benefactor of all living beings, all human beings without exception, all terrestrial and aquatic animals, and all plants in their diversity, he is peaceful and always abandoned to Krishna. Devoid of material desires, he is very humble and determined.

Having overcome the six material defects: concupiscence, anger, greed, insanity, illusion and envy, he eats no more than necessary.
