The position of a servant of God is the highest possible.

It is when one truly establishes oneself in the service of love and devotion to Krishna, God, the Supreme Person, that one becomes truly independent.

Men with reduced intelligence remain unable to appreciate the real position of the eternal servants of Lord Krishna. The use of the word “servant” plunges them into perplexity or even confusion, they cannot understand that this form of service has nothing to do with material servitude.

The position of the servant of God is the highest there is. He who can understand this truth, and who therefore finds his original nature as an eternal servant with the Lord, thus becomes perfectly independent. He finds true freedom.

The independence of the soul is lost in contact with matter. But on the spiritual level, in the spiritual sphere, the soul has total independence, so that there is no question at this level of falling under the dependence of the three attributes and mode of influence of nature. material which are: virtue, passion and ignorance.

The holy being, the devotee of God reaches this prestigious position, so that he abandons the tendency to enjoy matter, having become aware of his faulty nature.

The difference between the devotee and the impersonalist (the one who believes that God is a formless Supreme Being) is that the latter seeks to blend into the identity of the Supreme Being, in order to be able to enjoy existence at will, while the holy being renounces every spirit of enjoyment to adopt the Lord’s service of absolute love. This is its glorious natural, original and eternal condition.

He then becomes fully independent. Of course, the Being with supreme independence is none other than Krishna, God, the Supreme Person. The individual being distinct from God, which each one of us is, becomes fully independent only when he is dedicated to the service of the Lord. In other words, the spiritual pleasure that comes from the service of love and devotion offered to the Lord is real independence.

In truth, in the service of love and devotion offered to God, Krishna, the servant is as free as the Master.
